The Let’s Doc Festival is back for a third edition! An initiative by Ciné-Doc, Let’s Doc takes place every year with the aim of showcasing the richness of Swiss and international documentary cinema through screenings and discussions on current’s pressing social issues.
This year, the film E.1027 – EILEEN GRAY AND THE HOUSE BY THE SEA will be screened in the auditorium of Fondation Opale.

Directed by Beatrice Minger and co-directed by Christoph Schaub, this documentary is a cinematic journey into the mind of Eileen Gray, an Irish designer and architect. In 1929, together with architect Jean Badovici, she built a retreat on the French Riviera, naming it E.1027—an enigmatic combination of their initials. Her first house was a discreet and avant-garde masterpiece.
Le Corbusier later discovered the villa, which fascinated and unsettled him. Eileen Gray was no longer living in the house when Jean Badovici invited Le Corbusier to paint murals on the villa’s façades. Gray denounced the works as vandalism and demanded their removal—requests Le Corbusier ignored. Instead, he built his famous Cabanon just behind E.1027.

E.1027 – EILEEN GRAY AND THE HOUSE BY THE SEA revisits the legacy of this pioneer of modernist architecture, for whom a house should be designed around the human being—and not the other way around.
