Fondation Opale welcomes Bhuvana Vinod et Shanaathini Sriskanthan, two dancers from the Omkara school for a Bharata Natyam performance.

Bharata Natyam, a 2000-year-old dance style with its origins in the temples of Tamil Nadu in southern India, combines beauty, spirituality and expressiveness, and is one of the most popular forms of today Indian dance in the world. This art form features a rich language of codified hand gestures, body movements, footwork and facial expressions. It is a dynamic practice that harmonizes body and mind, creating a sense of inner peace.

The Omkara Indian Dance School, based in Geneva, is led by Sujatha Venkatesh, founder and artistic director. She is convinced that dance is a form of expression that transcends boundaries and has created numerous performances across Europe and several projects that explore current societal themes through dance.
