EMBROIDERY – STITCHES AND ORIGINS
18.01.2026Spanish visual artist Paula Palacios leads an intuitive and creative workshop in which participants explore the connections between painting and embroidery, in resonance with the themes of the exhibition ROOTS.
Starting from an initial coloured background, each participant is invited to freely experiment with materials, gestures and textures. A simple introduction to several embroidery stitches then allows for the addition of reliefs, marks and motifs inspired by organic networks and natural flows.
Participants will leave with a small personalised textile piece, a useful and meaningful object created through slow, sensitive gestures that are accessible to all skill levels.
Based between Switzerland and Spain, Paula Palacios holds a degree in Fine Arts. Her work explores the body as a tool for communication, memory and ritual. She develops a cross-disciplinary practice encompassing performance, drawing, photography and textile, with a particular focus on repetitive gestures and manual processes. Drawing inspiration from nature, roots and symbolic networks, she creates works that question the relationship between material, language and identity.
