Created in 2016 under the impetus of violist Elise Lehec, the Valéik ensemble is a collective bringing together artists active in the Valais. Valéik (Valais in patois) is first and foremost a string quintet, joined over the course of their concerts by other artists: musicians, comedians, visual artists. Restoring the popular meaning of classical music by taking it out of the usual concert halls is the ensemble’s primary vocation.

With CELTIBERIANS, the ensemble continues its exploration of global music through a foray into two musical cultures: flamenco and Celtic music. Around compositions and arrangements by Lisa Biard, melodies wander, harmonies mingle, in a new fusion.

Lisa Biard: accordion
Didier Métrailler: percussion
Elise Lehec: viola
Manuel Castan: guitar
