Chermignon pianist Loris Mittaz tells us about his life and his illness, through his new Opus ATOM recorded in the studios of “EV-Sounds’Emotion” in Sion.

His compositions reflect his life and the illness that caused him to lose his sight. Without any heaviness, all wisdom, the artist takes us into his boat to take us out to sea with full sail. He likes the idea that anyone can close their eyes and make a film of what they hear. Dreams are in the air, as the notes bead on the piano.

Fresh and new at the age of 22, Loris has already had the opportunity to perform on the Crans-Montana Classique 2023 Festival stage alongside some of the greats. He plays in various Valais bands, where he can give free rein to his more urban ideas.

His studio experience enabled him to delve deeper into his introspective work, and to translate it with more relevance than he had hoped. He will emerge from it with new horizons, which he will soon translate into new compositions in the making. His desire to push back his own limits opens the way to the essential, which he says is still to be found elsewhere.
