A jazz trio composed of Léonard Muller (clarinet), Isabel Meiser (mezzo-soprano), and Augustinas Rakauskas (accordion) will accompany a film from the archives of the Médiathèque Valais in Martigny, depicting rural life in Savièse in the 1970s.

This 40-minute montage brings together two films by René-Pierre Bille, retracing the four seasons of traditional peasant life and its long-forgotten gestures.

The mule, born of a donkey and a mare, was once an indispensable companion to Valaisan farmers, at a time when only human strength—and the mule itself—could accomplish the heavy work of the fields, long before machines arrived. Now nearly vanished, the mule is honoured in this movie-concert, echoing the spirit of early cinema, when silent films were brought to life with live music.

Highlighting Valais’ audiovisual heritage is one of the missions of the Orgues, Musiques et Cimes Festival, alongside its musical training workshops.
