Every summer, the Fondation Sion Violon Musique presents concerts by the Tibor Varga Academy.
This year, José-Daniel Castellon (flute), Svetlana Makarova (violin), and Letizia Belmondo (harp) will perform at the Lens Art Centre, in the exhibition rooms.

Program to be announced…

José-Daniel Castellon regularly performs as a soloist with orchestra. In recent years, his performances have taken him from Seoul to Irkutsk, including the legendary Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, where he performed Mozart’s Concerto in G Major with the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie conducted by Nicolas Chalvin. His passion for teaching has led him to teach at the Conservatoire of Lyon, and currently at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU).

Svetlana Makarova is a Russian violinist. She won First Prize at the Tchaikovsky International Youth Competition in Moscow at the age of ten, followed by numerous other awards. In 2008, she was invited by Lorin Maazel to join the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, Spain, as principal violin. Before joining the violin faculty at HEMU Lausanne in 2011, she taught at the renowned Gnessin’s College of Music in Moscow. She frequently serves on juries for major international competitions and has recorded several albums for the Naxos label.

Letizia Belmondo was born in Turin in 1981 and began studying harp at age 8 at the Suzuki Talent Center in Turin. She continued her studies with Gabriella Bosio at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Turin, where she received her Harp Diploma in 1998, then at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon under Fabrice Pierre, and with Nancy Allen at the Juilliard School in New York. She also studied cello, which enriched her musical education. Since then, Letizia Belmondo has gained recognition and success throughout Europe and the United States, performing as a soloist and collaborating with renowned orchestras. She is a jury member at several prestigious international harp competitions and has been Professor of Harp at HEMU Lausanne since 2011.
