Let’s Doc! – Marungka Tjaltjunu (Dipped in Black) + L’audition
03.11.2024The Ciné-Doc association invites you to the screening of two documentary films on different themes in the auditorium of Fondation Opale. The Let’s Doc project, which takes place every year from November 1st to 30th, aims to showcase and promote the diversity of Swiss and international documentary cinema through screenings and discussions on current societal issues, hosted in various cultural, associative, and institutional venues.
MARUNGKA TJALATJUNU (DIPPED IN BLACK) – Matthew Thorne, Derik Lynch (35’)
This film follows Lynch, a queer and Yankunytjatjara theatre artist (an Aboriginal Australian people from the state of South Australia), as he returns to his hometown of Aputula to escape the oppression he felt while living in Adelaide. On his way home, he takes part in an inma, a cultural ceremony that involves storytelling through visual, verbal, and physical elements, including singing and dancing.
L’AUDITION – Lisa Gerig (80’)
This second film looks at the asylum procedure itself, and the challenges of the hearing. The film follows four asylum seekers as they relive the harrowing experience of their hearings, during which they have to explain and justify the reasons for their escape.
The screening will be attended by the film’s protagonist Demian Cornu.
An aperitif will be served before the screenings and during the intermission.
